It’s probably a combination of reasons for why so many people like it and why it’s an incredibly scary concept. In Japan, it simply refers to a type of bizarre sexual desire, while in the West, it is called pornographic material. The term literally means Sexual Desire and is short for Hentai Seiyoku. HENTAI simply means “pervert” in Japanese. The majority of people believe HENTAI is hardcore porn, but it isn’t. Hentai has Overtly sexualized characters and sexually explicit images and plots are characteristic of a genre of Japanese manga and anime.
While the term “hentai” is used extensively in the West and in Russia, other terms are used in Japan, such as juhati-kin, which prohibits entrance after turning 18 years old. It was created by a culture-specific view of aesthetics and sexuality that emerged from Japanese history, as well as some legal and economic realities that shaped the culture.
